I first met Suzette in 6th grade at Douglas School Elementary and we stayed friends throughout Junior High and High School.  Suzette had an amazing zeal for life and people and was always aspiring to be her best.  Her lively spirit was given the struggles and challenges of a few medical issues and mental illness.  After high school with limited funds and insurance she wasn't able to receive the proper medical care and attention needed to deal with her situation.  She was prescribed a mixture of medications that ended up taking her life way too soon.  I always wondered if she would have had the means to receive a higher standard of care and attention and with medical techonology and awareness of mental illness progressing daily if things could have been different for her.  Either way, so grateful for the memories and that I was able to know this kind person when I could.

Suzette was a very good friend. We almost had every class together at East High School. One thing I remember is that we truly disliked the stairs we had to climb to get to our classes.  She was always nice to me and a very gentle person. I always wondered what happened to her and I am very sad to find out that she has passed away. There are a lot of people that miss her I am sure.

I remember sitting alongside Suzette in English class where we studied Shakespeare and read "How Green Was My Valley" and others.  She was one of the kindest people I ever knew and had the ability to communicate heart to heart with no pretense, we'd have the most heartfelt and interesting conversations in that class.  I had no idea she was gone so young until I saw it on these pages.  Truly a nice person and the world was better off with her while she was here.
